Longford Terrace, Monkstown: Renovation of a Protected Structure

Originally the accomodation comprised of three storey over basement with a rear garden and mews buildings. The mews building have been for the most part been sold and form business premises to the main Monkstown Road. The houses are bounded to the front by railings on a granite plinth.

There is an access road to the front of the terrace that is separated from the main road by a granite wall. This access road is at a higher level than the main road. Originally these terraced houses would have had an aspect that overlooked the main railway line and would have had an uninterrupted sea view of Dublin Bay towards Howth. This has been blocked by the construction of Sea Point Apartments.

The project consisted of a change of use from office and basement apartment to a single dwelling of the terraced house and the complete conservation and renovation of the house which is a protected structure.
